Embracing Freedom and Simplicity
My Fifth Year Living the Truck Camper Lifestyle
This spring marks a powerful milestone in my life: my fifth year living part-time in my truck camper, embarking once again on a soul path journey that promises adventure, growth, and spiritual surrender. As I prepare to spend the next five months living the freedom lifestyle, traveling from the Arizona desert to the Washington Coast, I find myself reflecting deeply on what it truly means to live simply, trust the unknown, and follow the call of my soul.
The Symbolism of Year Five: Freedom, Change, and Trust
In numerology, the number five represents freedom, adventure, change, and transformation. It’s a number that invites us to let go of control, embrace uncertainty, and live in full trust of life’s unfolding journey. As I step into my fifth year on the road, it feels like more than a coincidence—it feels like a sacred confirmation that I am exactly where I need to be.
Living a nomadic lifestyle is not without its challenges. Each year I leave behind the comforts of my home—my “stix and brix”—to reconnect with nature, simplify my life, and deepen my relationship with my own soul. Every spring, I feel the undeniable pull to step once again into the unknown, carrying my home on my back like a turtle, moving slowly and mindfully through the landscape of life.
Choosing Simplicity Through Essentialism
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned on this journey is the beauty of essentialism—the art of focusing only on what is truly necessary and meaningful. Every year that I pack my camper, I realize how little I actually need to live a rich and fulfilling life. It’s not about minimalism for the sake of having less; it’s about cultivating space for what really matters.
As I prepare for five months on the road, I reflect on how easy it is to accumulate unnecessary possessions when living a stationary life. Yet when I travel, I find deep peace in the simplicity of living with only the essentials: a few pieces of clothing, a small kitchen to prepare plant-based meals, a cozy bed chamber to sleep under the stars, and the open road before me.
Living simply brings me back to myself. It frees up energy that would otherwise be spent maintaining a home, managing belongings, or worrying about the weight of things. In this simplicity, I rediscover my true home—the sanctuary within.
Trusting the Journey Ahead
This year’s preparations have been anything but smooth. Vehicle repairs, home logistics, and last-minute uncertainties—especially around the care of my beloved cat—have tested my ability to stay grounded and trust the process. Yet, time and again, I am reminded that surrendering to a higher power, placing my worries into my God Box, and trusting in the unseen forces guiding me is part of walking the soul path.
Every challenge that arises is an opportunity to deepen trust. Every delay or detour is part of the greater map I cannot yet see. By embracing spiritual surrender, I move closer to the freedom that can only be found through release.
Living the Freedom Lifestyle
Freedom is more than just mobility or lack of responsibility—it is the inner state of being unattached to outcomes, anchored instead in presence, purpose, and possibility. Living the truck camper lifestyle allows me to experience this freedom firsthand, to follow the seasons, to listen more deeply to my inner wisdom, and to trust that the road will reveal what I need exactly when I need it.
While I don’t know what this summer will bring, I do know that answering the call of my soul will expand me far beyond what I could ever experience staying safely within the walls of comfort and familiarity.
A Final Reflection
If you feel the pull toward something simpler, freer, and more soul-aligned, know that you are not alone. Walking the soul path requires courage, trust, and a willingness to let go of what no longer serves you. It invites you to embrace the unknown and trust that your inner compass will guide you home—not just to a physical destination, but to a deeper connection with your truest self.
As I set out on this next leg of my journey, I hold this knowing close to my heart:
Freedom isn’t found by clinging to certainty—it’s found by surrendering to the beautiful, wild flow of life.
